i have inspiron 1505 and i had the same problem i just firgured it out
go to Control Panel, then click display, when you get there click the screen saver tab, once you do that at the bottom there will be a power tab click it then click on the advanced tab at the top at the bottom it will say when i close the lid to my computer it will probably say go to standby right now. Click the arrow and choose do nothing this should work let me know
