Can you not access the router from any computer or just one?  If it is just one, then you likely entered the wrong MAC address for that computer.   If you cannot access the router from any computer, then try starting over by resetting the router to its default configuration by pressing the reset button on the back of the router.

The MAC filtering only applies to wireless adapters.  Get an ethernet cable and connect direclty.  The "0"s are zeroes and not capital O's.

Do like Steve said and reset the router...start over again.  Get it working without encryption then add one step at a time.

You access it the same way you set it up, with a wired connection. Most routers have the ability to save the configuration files pretty much the same way XP does a system restore.  I would suggest you go thru the process, get it going, and save the file so you can restore when needed.

The manufacturer should have a "how-to" for AOL users.

just a bit of added information i may have mentioned

Basics of what has happened

  • i cannot access 192.168.2.1 to change settings
  • cannot connect to internet or shared files through router or cable (using my old aol modem to do this)
  • it all happened when i changed the MAC address filtering

thanks ben

Your only option at this point is to reset the router using the reset switch.  This will return the router to its factory default settings, including the default username and password and SSID.  All MAC address filtering and WEP/WPA encryption will be disabled.
