What update did you install? To correct this go to add/remove programs and remove the bluetooth driver and software then install the updated software. Here is the link.
Can any of you tell me which update caused this? What was the day you updated? Did you do System Restore to fix the problem or did you uninstall/reinstall the Bluetooth 355 software and driver?
It shows up when I run Windows Update on my E1405:
Broadcom - Other Hardware - Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Technology
Date last published: 11/2/2006
Broadcom Other Hardware sofware update released in October, 2006 System Requirements

Perhaps someone at Dell should be in touch with Broadcom and Microsoft.
You risk confusing your customers. This was listed as optional, but clearly any critical updates from Microsoft should be installed. As I posted, the Windows Update listing specifically referenced the Dell product.
So am I to understand that when you run the Windows update you are going to the drivers area and finding drivers to update from there? If this is the case realize that the drivers that Windows provides have not been tested by Dell for your Dell system. The only drivers Dell supports and recommends are the ones that you find at
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs.
The confusing thing about this driver update is that it is clearly labeled "Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Technology" - notice the reference to Dell not just Broadcom - someone needs to contact either Microsoft or Broadcom (or both) and tell them not to put drivers out there for the public if Dell has not tested them.
Speaking of testing - I can not believe Dell has not already tested this driver, or is this another case of Dell dropping the ball in providing a half way decent job in supporting their users?
I can't believe you have not fixed this issue yet. I got my XPS today Dec 4, and Microsoft update promptly destroyed my Bluetooth connection just as the above.
For those of you who are updating with Microsoft drivers, make sure you are reading what you are doing. The driver is considered optional and not something you are required to update. Only use the Dell driver.
