Missing Modem in Dimension 3000
Hi -
My new Dell is not detecting its modem. My order confirmation clearly states that my computer should have a "[313-2279] 56K PCI Data Fax Modem." However, when I tried to send a fax, it stayed in the outbox and I received a message that "no modem [was] available." Then I found that the modem is not listed in the device manager, and the Dell E-Support Modem Helper says it "cannot talk to [my] modem."
I don't understand what's going on. Please help me with this ASAP.
Thanks,
Francesca Gomes

As I stated before, it's on my invoice that I should have a modem. And it should be internal, so I don't know what you mean by "make sure you have it plugged in the back properly." Can you be a bit more specific?
Thanks,

I think what he/she may be getting at is that you have the phone line in the correct port, apparently there is a network port as well a phone line, the phone line needs to go in the one at the bottom apparently.
I'm in the smae situation as you, bought a 3000 with a modem however I don't see a modem listed in the system hardware and can't connect to the internet.
Also there was no lead included to connect either which kind of worried me the only lead included is a ntwork lead.
Can't get through to phone support as they're closed and this is very frustrating, especially as I have a £600 pc in the house but am reduced to trawling through message boards in an internet cafe to try and get some system support, crazy!!!!!!
Somebody please help!!!!!!
