Missing Port Devices and Drivers in Device Manager
I recently upgraded to IE 8.0 and during the process I can no longer connect through my ethernet cable to to modem for getting an internet connection.
My wireless connections are working fine.
When I run various diagnostics they state the eithernet cable is not connected.
I have changed the ethernet cable but it still occurs.
When I check my device manager, I no longer have any port devices showing.
How do I reinstall the port drivers so the attached cables an again tranmit data?
Thanks... A very frustrated PC user.

Randy,
Many people complain they cannot connect with Internet Explorer 8. Depending on the software you have installed, it causes many problems. I felt that IE8 was very slow, to I stuck with IE7.
Try system restore and/or you can go to control panel, programs and features and un-instal;l IE8. You will have IE7 back after you restart your computer.
Some tips located at Welcome, PLEASE READ FIRST explain a few of the issues.
