Modem Detection Problems Help ASAP!

Question

Obviously i am having modem problems. I just reinstell my windows XP and got windows finally up an running again. But i tried to sign on the internet and it cannot detect the modem.  I tried selcting my modem through advanced options on a list...still doesnt detect it. I tried romoving the modem and putting back in....restarting the computer...still doesnt detect it. My modem cannot be detected...is there soemthing im not doing right? I know when i reinstalled windows on this computure they had to extract and install or whatever they did so the computer can sense it there? But im afraid i have no clue on how to do it on my dell computer and cannot find any other helpful guides. could someone help me please!!!!

dracofire2, Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum. Can you tell us what model computer and what model modem you have?

It is a dimension 2400, and the only place where i can tell what typ of modem was on a the chip on the modem says conexant. please help...thanx for your time.

As well as restoring XP did you use the Drivers CD to install the drivers for the computer?

hmm apparently im not the only one with the problem... Along with not being able to detect my cable modem my Dimension 2400 has been having problems tryin to extract drivers/applications from the Resource CD that came with the computer. I've spent about a week tryin to figure it out on my own, but it gets to a point where a 15 year old kid can do so much.
