Modem no longer available

I had to re-install windows after a virus that i just couldn't shift.  I've loaded the programs on including AOL, but now it won't find or recognise the internal modem.

I've tried a couple of drivers from this site but it is like the modem has no power?

I can't find the original drivers disk which I think might be the key.  Is there anything I can do?

Thanks Adam

In device manager, modems, is your modem listed?  If so, check properties and see if Windows thinks it's running correctly.  If it is a driver issue, and it may well be, you need to know the exact model to try and download the exact driver from the Dell downloads page for your computer model.

Well the modem wasn't listed, but I have solved the problem.

It seems that the drivers were in the C: drive but they just needed activating from within the drivers folder.  I double clicked an install type icon and now it is recognised by XP and a balloon (plug&play) has popped up

Way to go.  A happy ending.
