Did this ever work for you?? I note no reply saying it worked. I note in my Control Panel there is an icon with Dell Modem on Hold. I click it and it shows a check in it, yet i cannot find properties or other info on this as i do not have Call Waiting and do not want Modem on Hold. I think it interferes with my online connection as i only have Caller ID and Voice Mail with my phone co and if a caller calls and leaves a msg, i think it trips me off my modem connection?
Was your computer disconnecting when you were on and yet modem was not acting like it was? The internal Dell modem was not connecting here in a rural area with poor phone lines.
I have an external Zoom modem now and i think something on my Dell like the old drivers for the BCM V.92 may be interfering?? My husband took out the internal modem being directed by the Dell support.

No, it did not work. But I had already uninstalled the Broadcom drivers so I think that is why the Dell Modem-On-Hold did not show up in the device manager. It did give me some ideas though...so I went into the registry editor and did a search for it. At the top of the page of the Registry editor in the tool bar, click on edit, then click on Find, then type in "Dell Modem On Hold" It should take you to the specific registry key that pertains to the Dell Modem On Hold. Right click on it and then delete it and it goes away in the Control Panel.
I never had a problem with the Dell modem I used to have until lightening took it out. It was kinda freaky because it took out my surge protector too but that was it. Belkin took care of all the expenses associated with it so I was happy! But anyhow, I replaced it with an internal US Robotics modem which gave me nothing but BIG problems. The modem was constantly disconnecting and the speed was not near what the BCM modem used to be. I live in a rural area but I have pretty decent and clean phone lines. My BCM modem ALWAYS connected between 45.0 & 47.0 Kbps, but the US Robotics modem never connected over 42.0 Kbps, and then I felt lucky to stay connected for an hour at a time with a lot of drag time time between websites. So I thought there had to be a conflict with some of the old BCM drivers and software so I got rid of everything associated with Broadcom, but it did not help me with my US Robotics modem. I do not have Caller ID or Call Waiting ( not available in this area ) so I do not need Modem On Hold enabled on my computer.
After a month of using the US Robotic modem I got fed up with it and bought one from Modemsite.com and it was only $20.00 They seem to really know their stuff about modems! My connection speeds are now around 36.0 - 37.0 Kbps but my websurfing speed is as good as my BCM modem used to be and I NEVER get disconnected. So I am very happy with this one. I may play with the settings in my modem sometime to see if I can increase my connection speed, but for now I am very satisfied! Check out this website for everything you ever wanted to know about modems.http://modemsite.com/56k/index.asp
