Modem seems damaged
Hello,
Everytime I try to get on the Internet, my modem speed is very slow. I have an Inspiron 1100.
Can that be replaced?
Also, does the Inspiron 1100 have the capability of going wireless. It's a older model, 2003.
Thanks

Spyware/malware could slow your Internet speed. Download/install "Spybot" ("click here") and "AdAware" ("click here") to see if this might be the problem.
According to the download site for your Inspiron 1100... you have one of 3 different "MDC" (Modem Daughter Card) Dell used with this model. You might want to try updating your modem driver first. Since you didn't post what modem model you have... I can't link directly to it. But "click here", click "Communication Drivers" and click your modem's Model to find the latest Dell driver for your modem.
I haven't had any luck finding a retailer for the MDC modems in the short time I searched... but Dell Spare Parts should have them.
Hopefully, this number is still valid: "Dell Spare Parts USA - 1-800-449-3355 ext 7269937"
"Click here" for your system's online Service Manual.
Any notebook that has a Mini-PCI slot or a PCMCIA/Cardbus slot has the capability to use a wireless solution.
If you're thinking of a wireless broadband solution... "click here" for additional info.
If you want a wireless phone-line solution... "click here".
