Modem TAPI
I have a Dimension 4500. I currently access the web via DSL. I do have an internal 56K modem used for faxing. I have some software (MightyFax) that I use to send and recevie faxes. From time to time, however, when trying to send a fax, I get the error message: Error opening Communications Port with TAPI.
This can also occur intermittently when I am trying to put my computer software into "receive" mode.
Sometimes this will resolve on its own, other times it will take rebooting.
I have checked in control panel under modems, and then done a "query" only to find the message that the modem cannot be accesed.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

Mike from Milwaukee,
Thank you for posting your problem AND the solution that you found. Your comment that this may benefit others is completely correct. Very often a problem is posted on one of these boards and it is never known whether the problem is ever solved. Suggestions may be given, but all too frequently, there is not a final response from the poster about which suggestion may have fixed the problem.
Thank you for taking the time to post your solution back to this board. This will certainly help someone when they search the boards for a solution.
