Modem Volume wont go down

I updated my modem driver to include V.92 protocal, and now it makes that stupid screeching noise.  Even in i turn the speaker "off" via device manager it does nothing.  I rolled back to V.90, but now i always get slower connections.  Is there a way to use V.92 and turn that noise off?

thx

Step 1, Get pliers
Step 2, Open up PC
Step 3, Take modem out
Step 4, Firmly hold the modem on flat surface
Step 5, Carefully rip the stupid speaker off the modem.
Step 6, Put modem back into PC

If modem ceases to work, uninstall the modem. Next call your local High Speed ISP and have them give you the self install kit.

I am sort a serious about the pliers, but you could try to fill the speaker up with super glue or suttin so it would jam it all up sand stop it from vibrating
