It would appear that you have audio problems - possibly caused by uninstalling something for the original modem or whatever.
Reinstall your sound card (or module's) drivers and see if that helps. If not, you can try a Windows XP "Repair" operation, which is similar to reinstalling Windows XP from the CD.
