Modems Not Recognised

Question

I volunteer for an organization refurbising donated computers for people in the area who cannot afford them. Recently we recieved a donation of about 50 Optiplex computers, almost all of them G1's ranging from 266-400mhz. I have a fresh instal of Windows 98SE on them. My problem is that whenever I plug a PCI and ISA modem into the computerm Windows will not recognise it at all. I would post specifics on the modems, but each one is different, and none of them will be recognised. The wierd part is that it will recognise Sound, Network and USB cards. What could be causing this?

There is no such thing as a universal modem driver.
Windows XP recognizes more modems than 98 because more drivers are in there.

Its like saying I have 50 different types of video card and I want 1 driver
to work with all the different manufacturers.

Not going to happen.

Post all the service tags and We may be able to fill in the gaps as far as which drivers are for which modem.
