movin files amoung computer
i was informed by a dell tech to install a second windows home edition to bypass the corrupted original system, my issue is how to take the files on the 1st system, and move them onto the second windows - on the same computer. i have 2 options when i boot up of which home system to choose, and the one that i choose will bootup a clean new copy of windows. i can access the windows folder but not the owner folder. its confusing, and its hard to explain, but i was told by the tech whom i couldnt get back through to, that i could access my files, but i cant. any files that are in "program files" are older versions of what i did have on the other half of my system.

No, you cannot simply move the registry files, programs, and Windows updates. All programs will have to be reinstalled and all Windows updates will have have to be redownloaded and reinstalled. This will rewrite the registry correctly so that everything will work. Once this is done, then you can move data files to the new operating system's folder structure, and finally, once you are sure that you have all of the data, you can delete the previous directory structure.

now my computer thinks it needs all the new files to stay up-to-date, even tho it was on the other os. anyway of transfering those files over so i wont be updating my computer continously? SP@ would be nice to not have to download again, but to just transfer.

This depends on the directory structure that you end up with. If the program files from the new installation go into the old directory structure, then you would not want to erase those files. The old files would have been overwritten, so there would not be an issue of space. You would, however, want to remove the old copy of Windows under and every thing under the old Windows directory.
