june elizabeth,
I used Google to search on "memory could not be written" and found this possible solution. If the problem persists, try Googling for other solutions. One I saw was to apply this security patch. You should use Windows Update to apply any outstanding critical updates.

Hi again
Went where you said and the information seemed great, but I find it does not apply to Windows XP
On the microsoft web site they now say they are aware of this problem and it will be dealt with in a patch (sometime) hopefully soon
Thanks for trying to help
June Elizabeth
