Whihc firewalls are running on the respective machines?

McAfee runs on both my desktop (where I have the problem) and a laptop (where I don't have the problem). Verizon DSL supplies software with internet service. Both computers run in the same house through a router.

If this is a new problem, then something has changed with the configuration on the machine that will not allow.  Check the type of attachments that are being allowed to download.

The problem is not with the ISP.

It is not a new problem and I agree that it is not with ISP, but I am at a loss as to where to find the solution. Anyone???

I really don't believe it is the firewall. 1) If I disable the firewall, I still cannot receive the files and 2) I cannot attach a .wmv file to an outgoing e-mail.

YOU will have to compare the configurations of the firewalls between the two machines.
