Need driver for 3Com 3cn3acx556 LAN/modem

Help!! I just had to reinstall windows 2000 with service pack 4 on my Latitude C800 and now can't get the control panel to recognize my modem. The manual selection option doesn't display an option for the 3Com 3cn3acx556 modem. Do I need an additional driver? If so where can I find it? I've tried the Dell download site and the 3Com and US robotics sites all with no luck.

Download this utility from 3COM website.  It's called cardfind.exe.  On my notebook, it flashed a dos window and my network card started working properly again.

It should be Z68GFM04.EXE, available on the Dell site for C800 as:

"3Com 10/100 & V.90 LAN Mini-PCI, v. Drivers, A04"

The Dell site shows the same drivers are used for both the C800 and C600, and that's the driver I use with my C600/Win2K/3Com 556 miniPCI.

Note that the download will extract both the NIC and modem drivers to separate subdirectories under c:\dell.  IIRC, the driver doesn't install automatically after extraction, so you'll need to go into Device Mgr and upgrade the driver for the modem by pointing it to the modem driver directory.
