To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message. Do this first with the ethernet cable not connected to the router and then with the ethernet cable connected. Post both results.
As a troubleshooting step, can you connect to the router with a wired ethernet connection from the same computer? Which model computer do you have? Which model wireless network card?
Your problem is that you are not using DHCP on the wireless network card. To fix this, open Network Connections, right click your wireless network connection and select Properties from the drop down menu. In the list of items, find the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select it, then click on the Properties button. Make sure that the box next to "Obtain an IP address automatically is checked" and also make sure that the box next to "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is checked.
