Did you order the B130 with a wireless networkk card installed? If so, all you will need is wireless router to connect to your dsl modem. If you didn't order the B130 with a wireless network card installed, then read the 100s of other messages on this forum about the B130. You will need a USB wireless network adapter.
I ordered it with wireless capability. It has express card slot. I have been reading the posts about the 130. I have Verizon DSL. so maybe I don't need the USB adapter? Thanks for your help.
If you ordered the computer with wireless capability and you indeed received one with the wireless card already installed, then you don't need the USB wireless adapter. You will still need a wireless router, but because the Westell 2200 is also a router, you will have to cinfigure the wirless router to run in access point mode as you cannot have 2 routers on the network.
According to the Verizon Westell 2200 instructions, I still need a router. The express card slot has a blank in it. Should I get express card or USB adapter? I have had computers for 20 years and this thing almost has me buffaloed!
You said you ordered the computer with wireless installed. Are you sure you don't have an internal wireless network adapter? Have you checked your invoice? Have you checked Device Manager? Right now there are no Express Card wireless network cards (everyone says they will be on the market soon, but I don't know what soon means). So, if you don't have an internal wireless card, your only option right now is a USB wireless card.
Yes, even though the Westell is also a router, it is not a wireless router, so you will need a wireless router.
OK, my face is red..!!! I have a B120 that I added the upgrade for wireless. The manual says B130. The invoice says Dell 1370 internal wireless for Inspiron B120. So, now what do I need?
You said it, I didn't get it or it didn't soak in. Thanks for your help. this bulletin board helped me a few years back. You've been most patient with me.
