Sorry, in my hurry I forgot the most important thing. I have a Dell C610. Was using Comcast Ariss modem. It worked on cable before attempting wireless connection. Wireless connection didn't work. I then attempted to return to cable and system kept telling me that it could not find server. So, the only way I can get to internet is aol dialup. I still have comcast modem.
at this point its hard to isolate what could be causing the problem. since another tech assisted you setting up the wireless connection. you probably changed a setting in windows. try system restore. in case that this is not an Operating System issue. try checking your cable modem. check lights, try another rj45 cable. check your driver. try removing the wireless card and uninstallling the driver, it could also be hardware. try pinging 127.0.0.1 to test integrated NIC.... let me know
What were you doing just before you got this message? Were you trying to install anything? It sounds as if you may need to reload the operating system. If you did not received any disks with your system can can request them from this
site; however, if your system is not an XPS you will probably have to call in to tech support to request a set. Here is a link to
tech support's number.
