According to the Dell download site, the integrated 1000 Mbps network card in the 8400 is a Broadcom card, not an Intel card. The drivers for the Broadcom card are at:
That's what the Invoice I got with my Dell 8400 says. But given that in the last 2 weeks Dell has replaced the memory, the CPU, then today replaced the motherboard and again the memory, I am beginning to have my doubts.

It died on 13 September and I am still waiting for it to be brought back to life. Bought on 13 March 2005 - not too impressed with how Dell is implementing the "next business day' on site service I paid for.
Please verify that you have a Dimension 8400. I can find no recent Dell model that shipped in U.S. with an Intel 1000 integrated network adapter. Did you buy this in the U.S?
Well, somehow I think I am not getting the full information. For example you say you have a "Integrated PCI NIC Card". Integrated means that is part of the motherboard. PCI means that it plugs into a PCI slot. It cannot be integrated and PCI at the same time. See if you can provide me with better information. I have told you that Dell did not sell 8400s with Intel 1000 network adapters. I have given you links to drivers for the Broadcom Gb network cards and the Intel 100 cards. Unless you can definitively tell me exactly what you have, it is very difficult to help.
If you read all my posts you will note that Dell tech came and replaced my motherboard last week. I have been trying to reinstall windows since then and am running into problems wirh drivers. I just opened up the system and there is no visible card in the spot where I pluG in my cable modem cord, so that indicates to me that the card is integrated in the motherboard. Had I known thAT when I bought the system I would have changed that for a physicAL CARD. There is a small component wired into the motherboard with the writing 'TYCO 1368162-1" on it.
not sure if this would be information you can use but the Item number on the invoice is 430-0742 and the description reads "Quote "SP Intel Pro 1000 Integrated PCI NIC Card" UNQUOTE
