Downloading does nothing.  Did you install the chipset drivers after downloading them?

I dont have those drivers, (Intel) and I cannot find them at Dell

and  Intel Pro 1000 Integrated PCI NIC Card

not sure how that disappeared from my system description

Please verify that you have a Dimension 8400.  I can find no recent Dell model that shipped in U.S. with an Intel 1000 integrated network adapter.  Did you buy this in the U.S?

Well, somehow I think I am not getting the full information.  For example you say you have a "Integrated PCI NIC Card".  Integrated means that is part of the motherboard.  PCI means that it plugs into a PCI slot.  It cannot be integrated and PCI at the same time.  See if you can provide me with better information.  I have told you that Dell did not sell 8400s with Intel 1000 network adapters.  I have given you links to drivers for the Broadcom Gb network cards and the Intel 100 cards.  Unless you can definitively tell me exactly what you have, it is very difficult to help.
