Need Some Help with my Inspiron E1705 please!

I recently reformatted my inspiron e1705 due to an overwhelming amount spyware; it just needed a fresh slate. I realize now that I could have simply set it back to it's factory settings, but since the hard drives are now wiped clean, i'm not going to worry about it.

Anyways, so I boot from my Windows XP cd and reinstall the OS, afterwords I boot up and start installing drivers from my recovery CD that came with the laptop + the OS cd. Now, I'm not great with computers, so this is where I need alittle help - you see I checked "Device manager" and noticed a large number of devices that are still unrecognizable to the PC until it receives new drivers, however I can't access the internet. I booted up dell quickset and it said that the internal network card was off, and although I have the laptop plugged in, it still makes no difference. I went into BIOS and made sure it was enabled... everything.

So then I figured it was just the fact it needed new drivers, so i attempt to install the intel (r) PRO/wireless 2200BG network connection drivers from my recovery CD, what i get is an error after unzipping the files stating "ERROR - This installer does not support installation on this computer". I noticed that the system model was labed "inspiron ME051" although I can't change that... and maybe it's the same thing, idk.

So I'm stuck at this point - should I use a jump drive and download the drivers off this website for my laptop - then install them on there? Help!

Thanks for your time, Cody
