Need to replace PCI Adapter

Question

I need to replace the PCI card in my Dell. CNET PR0200WL PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter. My Dell fails to connect to the router...Had no problems for 6 months then one morning I get a 'Cable Disconnect'. I've tried it all, updater PCI driver, tried all router ports, new cable, updated router firmware.... the Dell will connect direct to the modem and another older Linksys router that I have. I also have another old IBM running W-95 that connects with no problem and a wireless laptop that connects. So it points to the PCI card as the problem. My question can I purchase a PCI Adapter card local and it work OK in my Dell? Anything special to installing one in the Dell? I installed the card in my IBM several years ago.

Yes, you can buy a PCI network adapter from your local computer store and it should work just fine, all you need is to install the driver if prompted.  If Windows XP has a built-in compatible driver already, it'll install without any user input.
