Net Zero

I am sure this has been answered numerous times but my wireless connections is not picking up any internet connection.  Our router is a Netgear N600 Dual Broadband WNDR3400.

I have  a Dell Vostro 1500 with a WLAN wireless card.  Previously my hard drive was replaced.  And now the wireless card does not recognize any connection.  When I turn the computer on and put in the user name and password for internet connection.  This will even happen when I am at starbucks, no connection is made.

I did take the back panel off to attempt an identify the problem myself.  Could I have caused a elctrostatic spark and disable the card?  The computer has been known to become warm after prolonged use, is it possible this card is fried?
