NetGear router

I have a new NetGear WPN824 router. It is working great with my Sony desktop (wired) and wirelessly with an HP desktop. My Dell Inspiron 9100 has worked with many wireless connections but it apparently doesn't like this NetGear router. In the "Wireless Network Connection Status" window the router is shown as connected and the time is being continued. On the taskbar icon the wireless connection is shown as "Excellent." When I view "Available Networks" the NetGear is listed. All of this is great...but I can't get into any IE window ("this page cannot be displayed"), any Firefox window, nor AOL. Any suggestions?

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

Your wireless card is using a static IP address which will not work with the router.  Open Network Connections, right click on your wireless connection and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.  Find the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list of installed items, select it and click on properties, then make sure it is set to "Obtain an IP address automically" and "Obtain DNS server address automically".

Steve,

I'd already tried this; the NetGear folks tried this. Since I still had the same problem, the NetGear folks tried the static address. My taskbar still shows an "excellent" connection but I still cannot access anything. Somehow, somewhere the Dell is fighting this connection!

I don't care what Netgear says, unless you change that back to obtain an IP address automically, you will never get it to connect.  Change it back and post another ipconfig /all output.

I have been having the exact same issues! I followed the steps outlined in the pp and it did not work for me either. Here is what I get when I run the ip/config
