Netgear Wireless Router

I just installed a Netgear Wireless - N150 Router.  Two of my three computers recognized it immediately.  The third did not, although it connected to the previous router. It operates on Windows XP. Message states: "No wireless networks were found in range.  Make sure wireless switch on your computer is on."  The Netgear tech support person tried a few things, then said the problem must be with the computer.  Any ideas?

Thanks very much.

Bobchauncey,

If I read the specifications correctly, the Netgear N150 is a wireless N router only.

Wireless N transmits on 5.8gh band.

Wireless b/g transmits on 2.4gh band.

If this is NOT a dual band wireless router, then you'll need to have a wireless N card/adapter for the computer(s) that do not have a wireless N card.

Also XP need to have at least XP SP2 or SP3 to support WPA Security.

The specs on this router do say it will run on either b/g or n.  See HERE. and the Sys requirements are either an N card or a b/g wireless adapter. This also operates on the 2.4 gig  N  and G band. so it is not a dual band router.

My guess is the possible security setting. Try setting the router's security to none and also make sure that your firewall on the XP machine is set to allow the IP address of the router
