NetWare client login screen
We're using
...network OS: Novell NetWare 6.5 server
...workstations: Dell OptiPlex GX280
............... WinXP pro, sp2
............... Novell Client 4.91
When we down the server, the NetWare login screens lose their color and grey out (don't know the tech term for this). If you roll the mouse over the login screen, that part reappears and can be manipulated (button clicked, text box typed into, etc.). Occasionally, this will happen while the server is still up.
I have:
... installed new drivers (from Dell);
... turned off the power managment option to allow the computer to turn off the NIC card to save power.
We don't want the login screens to change. This is a minor problem; it does not affect anything on the network other than being a mild annoyance. Is there a solution?

We have Zenworks 6.5 SP2 and Netware 6.5 SP3 and SP4 servers on about 30 subnets.
We do not have the problem you are mentioning. When a server is down, we typically get cannot "Cannot Find Tree or Server" error message. We also get unable to connect to LDAP server(s) if that server is down.
Are you able to click the Workstation Only button and login locally against the Windows XP Local Security Accounts Manager?
I would double-check all of the Netware Client Properties. Have you looked in the client properties?
