Network Adapter Not Listed
I recently had to reinstall XP. Everything seems to be working normally, but I am unable to reconnect to the internet via my DSL. I looked in my device manager and there is no listed at all for "Network Adapters".. I have a listing for "Other Devices" that has a yellow question mark indicating that it is not working properly. When I inserted the Dell Resource disk to get the device drivers installed, it doesn't seem to recognize any ethernet card driver installed. I'm assuming (by the service tag) that I have the Broadcom. Can anybody help as to how I go about getting the Network Adapters to reappear???

After reinstalling Windows, did you install the chipset drivers as the first drivers installed. Without the chipset drivers, Windows will not be able to recognize or install drivers for any device integrated on the motherboard (like the network adapter). Once the chipset drivers are installed, you should be able to install drivers for other devices.

Conni,
Without knowing which model computer you have, I can't point you to the correct drivers on the Dell download site. You can find them yourself if you click on the Product Support tab in the upper left of the Dell forum window, select Downloads, then enter your system model or service tag number.

Which drivers are you talking about? Did you sucessfully install the chipset drivers? Did you then install the network drivers? Which model computer do you have? Which files did you download? It's awfully difficult to help if you don't provide details in your messages.

The chipset drivers must be installed first. After the chipset drivers are present, then the order doesn't matter.

smiley,
Which drivers did you install? Did you install the chipset drivers first, then the network card drivers?

Try installing the chipset drivers. Once they are installed, try the network drivers. Note that the chipset drivers are required before Windows can recognize or install drivers for any device that is integrated on the motherboard, like the network adapter, video adapter, and in some cases, the sound card. Furthermore, USB devices will not likely work until the chipset drivers are installed.
