Network Adapter Speed

How do I find the "speed" of my network adapter? Looking at device manager I can tell the maker, Realtek, but I am trying to determine if I have a 100mb or gigbit adapter.

My bill of sale does not specify nor does it show up in the system configuration page. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

When you look in Device Manager does it give you the model number of the network card?  Easiest way would be to google that model number and find the specs for it.

You could also go to the main Dell support page, input your service tag, and when the pages refresh check out the user's manual for your model.  That should give you more information on the specifications as well.

What model of Dell system do you have?   And how old is it?   If you let me know I can try and find more details for you, if needed.

Thanks Todd.

No, it does not show the model number.  Says something like - Realtek PCI GBE Family controller.  When I put in my service tag the configuration page does not even list the adapter.  The PC is a Dimension 2350, 2.4GHz & 12 GB memory all in one that was purchased late 2013/early 2014.

Thanks,

Will

The Dell™ Inspiron™ 2350 integrates a Gigabit Ethernet controller by Realtek supporting speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbps.

So it will handle gigabit speeds.    I hope that helps.
