network adapter troubleshooting

I am working on a sx-270 and this machine is connected to my network. I have checked the bios to ensure the interface is in enabled and I still do not see any lights indicating connectivity. Are there any other troubleshooting hints? or just replace the system board?

What type of device are you attempting to connect the system to? If you are connecting into a wall jack, try a different wall jack. If you are using a hub/switch/router device, try another port.

Also, use another network cable that is known good, and has worked previously with another system.

If the device you are attempting to connect to is managed in any way, try hard-setting the port connected to the system to a specific speed and duplex. Then, within the network device properties of the system, similarly hard-set the network card. Do not allow auto-negotiation.

Could be bad wire.

You can make a wrap plug with pins 1 -3 and 2-6 looped back on a connector. It will then light up if plugged into the lan port.
