Network Auto-Config App?? Where? When?
Is there, or will there be a configuration application for Dell notebook to configure the Ethernet & Wireless?
IBM has there "Access Connections" and Toshiba has there "Config Free". What does Dell have?
For those that don't know what the IBM and Toshiba utilities do, they automaticly reconfigure the networking based on connections. For example, if ethernet is plugged in and it has a vailid IP address, WiFi is disabled. If there is no ethernet link, WiFi is enables and ethernet is disabled. If WiFi is enabled and there are multipal SSID's found (and configured on the notebook) the one with the strongist signal is selected.
Thanks for your time.

but in xp - you can change what order it uses which interface
network properties / advanced / advanced settings
i have mine
wifi
lan
1394 (not that i use it for networking)
so that if there is wifi, its used, then lan (if wifi not avaliable)
as for the different SSID's
unless there is configuration (ie: wep keys), winxp (if set to automatically connect) will automatically connect to wireless networks (mine always connects to mine rather than the neighbor's lesser signal, open wap; though i could change connections to use theirs, if i really wanted to)
and you can list the different ssid/networks you want to connect to on the winxp "wireless networks" lower "prefered networks" section... higher it is on the list - it connects to it first, lower, less, etc.
i dont see why a 3rd party program eating up memory would be needed, though i have seen them on other ppl's laptops in studio.
