What are you connecting the cables to? If you are connecting one computer directly to another without an intervening hub or router, are you using a cross-over cable? A regular network cable will not work connecting network cards directly.

Hello to you both, I was about to ask this same question having just put a 10/100 PCI board in my 8200 and connecting directly to the existing 10/100 in my 8300.
So I presume I have to get a second cable and what else do I have to get?, cheap suggestions appretiated.
Whilst I am here, I really want my 8300 to be independent of the internet, when the two computers are connected, are they then in effect both connected to the internet when I go on line with the 8200?
Many tahnks
