Network Cable Unplugged Status

Question

I have Inspiron 6000 using Windows XP. I can connect to wireless network through router without any problems at home. However, when I just tried to plug the network (DSL) cable in at work nothing happens. My Local Are Connection icon in Network Connections is showing 'network cable unplugged' message, and it doesn't recognize the connection. My fried recently bought Latitude and experienced the same problem. Please HELP! Many thanks. Larisa

To add, the network card is Broadcom 440 10/100 Ethernet.

I encountered this symptom with the Truemobile 300 Bluetooth factory installed in my Inspiron 8600.  The driver status is OK, but I cannot see any other bluetooth devices near to my 8600 notebook.  The blue tooth lamp on the display lid in the lower right is dark.
