network card not working
Hello All,
I need your help. I bought my Inspiron 600m in Canada and I have the complete care warranty. Right now I am in Bangladesh and my network card is not working. They don't have wireless here and so I have to rely on Wired connection.
The network sometime says "Network Cable Unplugged" even though it is connected. The same cable works just fine with another machine. I even tried connecting with another computer with a cross cable, I have no connection. (Although the same cable works with other computers)
When I called Dell Canada, the tech guy asked me to ping localhost. And I get reply from localhost. So the guy goes, the card is okay, and asked me to reinstalled XP. Although I was not sure if his diagnose was right or not (I thought loopback interface is always there, even if there is no network card), I re-installed XP. Still the same problem. Tried with Linux and the same problem - no network!
Is there anything you can suggest I do? Since I am not in Canada, I can't ask for repair!
