Network Connections
I have a Dell Dimension model 2400. I moved and changed internet providers and I now have Time Warner DSL
My problem is I can't connect to the Internet..its like its not even there. When I called Time Warner they did some checking from their end and said my Network card was not sending a signal back to them and said I should replace it. Is there another way I can test it..and when I took the cover off it looked like the network connector is part of the Mother Board...if I buy another Network card will it by pass what's in there or will I need a new Mother board... If you haven't guess it by now..I am a novice on computers.

What kind of internet service did you have before you changed service providers? Are you sure you now have DSL service and not cable service? There is probably about 0.0001% chance that your integrated network card is at fault. If it is, however, a $10 PCI network card can be purchased and installed and so long as you connect to that and you are properly set up, everything should be fine. I suspect that your current problem, however, is not the network adapter, but a failure to properly change the way Windows connects. If you currently have DSL, did you set up the PPPoE connection requried for this type of service?

If your service is now cable, it does not need PPPoE. But if it was dsl before, then it may be set up for PPPoE which will not now work on cable. You need to know what kind of service you had before. Who was your service provider before you got Time Warner?

I suggest that you go into Network Connections, remove the local area connection, then run the Network Setup Wizard to create a new connection for your Time Warner Service. You might need to have Time Warner help you set this up. Be sure to explain to them that you had Verizon DSL before you changed to their service.

I just re-read my last reply where I told you to go into Device Manager and remove the connection. That was wrong. I meant to say to go into Network Connections and remove the connection. I edited my last post to correct the mistake.
