Many thanks for replying Jm, I have already downloaded those drivers and installed them, And they are the
broadcom bcm440x R108904 & BroadComx10_100integratedcontroller.
But the BCM4309 802.11a/b/g is not included in them. It is still showing in the device manager as missing/needs to be installed.
It is not on the supplied cd's either. I have also tried driversguide too - no luck there either.
Its crazy, why does everything have to be so hard to do.
I have emailed dell and emailed broadcom, and niether of them have deigned to reply.
If anyone has this driver, would it possible for them to email to me or tell me I can download it? Many thanks
Hi JM,
Thanks for your reply. I do appreciate it.
Those are for the 4401 drivers, the driver I need is 4309. And the Archive Page has not got them either. I went to those pages earlier. I have trawled all over Dells website and Broadcom's too.
Do you think I could use the 4401 drivers?
It does seem very strange that this driver is so hard to find?
I thought that the network files I downloaded earlier would have both drivers in it.
From your original message you state that you are looking for the BCM4309 802.11a/b/g driver. This is a wireless driver since it is 802.11x. The BCM typically identifies a broadcom device. On this system the Truemobile 1350, 1370, and 1450 are broadcom based devices therefore the driver you are looking for is one of these. Here is a link to the
Inspiron 1300 Network Drivers (of course click on the plus sign next to network for a complete list). I don't know which wireless adapter you have but one of these should be what you are looking for.
Thanks Gina,
I have already been there. JM, also directed me there too.
I have just solved the puzzle. The broadcom bcm4309 802.11a/b/g network driver, was in the orignal download of
broadcom bcm440x R108904, but it was not picked up and installed at the same time.
After numerous auto scans of cds, system etc. I started a manual scan of the laptop and lo-and-behold it picked up the correct driver. Why it wasn't installed at the same time as the broadcom bcm440x R108904 drivers I don't know?.
So problem solved. Many thanks to all who replied to my question.
I am having the same problems also. I do not have the original Dell Drivers and Utilities disc but i read in a earliar post that it did not matter. I installed the broadcom bcm440x R108904 driver picked up the ethernet controller but not the wireless i tried every other wireless driver found on the dell website. please help.
