The ontly thing that looks remotely possible would be the possible TV tuner card installed in that machine, if there is indeed one.  If yow know the drivers are on the Cd, then why the question?

All the drivers are on your Resource CD or available from the support>downloads section above.

Yes, I know. Why am I getting the above? 4 Controllers on the PCI bridge are missing drivers.

I also installed the Intel 850 chipset driver. It's there, Intel version 01/05, so I know it's installed since the only other things installed are Windows XP (c) 2001 (no SP edition) and the two drivers from the Dell CD, also 2001.

Could it be a hardware issue? Is there a reset function for the board? (An older computer had this feature... I had to move a jumper to reset the board).

I'm grasping at straws here. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Because I am still getting a yellow ? next to "Network *Controller*"... and the 10/100 Ethernet *Card*, though that driver is installed, is not working.

Hmmm... I just added the AverMedia PCI capture card driver and 3 ??? disappeared. Maybe I need the Linksys wireless driver installed? But, that shouldn't affect the ethernet (wired) card.

It's such a frustrating mystery. But, I do appreciate the replies and attempts to help.

Have you installed the chipset drivers also?

August 14th, 2005 12:00

Yes, I installed the chipset drivers. But, per Intel and MS, those are included in XP.

Turns out the "controller" needing the driver was my Linksys wireless card... Uggh! That term " controller" totally threw me off. I was thinking it was a chipset component, not my wireless or video cap card.

Even worse... my ethernet was not working because the cable I grabbed out of the box was a crossover cable... double uggh!

I forgot I even had one. I use it once in a while when I need to copy DV data from my notebook to this one with the DVD burner. It's much faster than the wireless.

I realized it when my buddy came over last night (he's got a PhD and is an IT guy for the Army). He asked, "What port do you have that plugged into... it won't work in the uplink port". I thought, "It would if it was a crossover cable... Wait!... this IS a crossover cable... DUH!"

Anyway... answers so simple... but 3 chat's with Dell and a couple hours messing with it, the answer was elusive. And it wasn't even happy hour.

Can't thank you enough for taking the time to help. These boards are invaluable for those of us looking for what is most of the time, an easy answer. But, it wouldn't work without people who come here regularly to help.
