First, just helpful info for posting; anytime you want to add or change a post just view it, then click the Message Options box and the first item will be Edit Message - click that. You can add or change to your heart's content.
Now, I hope you are well-healed. To do what you want, you will need to contract with a cell company to be wireless anywhere. Two I know that offer a PCMCIA card for dialing in to them are Sprint and T-Mobile. There may be others. Pay attention to the coverage area in the places you will be. Also talk to cell phone owners who use the service you are considering to see what they say about actual coverage.

There is no other way besides dial up? I thought they had some hi-tech network something or another that you could have a chip set into your notebook and you could just connect anywhere in the US without having to hook up to anything?
With a wireless contract can my cell phone be on the same contract and am I billed seperate? two charges?
I just was wondering since you can get to the net anywhere with PDA's and cell phones. No connection.
Is there a sattilite network?
Healed from what my shoulder surgery on the 7th?

And again I say:
"That is possible with the right cell phone, but if you look at the links I provided, you will find there were PCMCIA cards you plug into the notebook and connect to the cell service with. The connection is faster than going through the cell phone. We use the Sprint service at work in the Live trucks to dial into the News server. You can use it anywhere there is cell service, thus my advice to investigate coverage in your area. Again this is expensive. "
