Network Issues
I probably posted this in the wrong forum;
http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=insp_general&message.id=263529&jump=true#M263529
Internet connection has been very hit and miss on the vostro, yet an XP PC and Mac work flawlessly sitting inches away from it.
I have updated the driver to 11.5.0.32 dated 26/09/2007 This shows intermittent improvement -- I'm typing this on my Mac as the Vostro says "Server not found" when I try to connect to this forum. Yet my Mac connected immediately.

To start Network and Sharing Center by using Control Panel
First thing to do is makesure all machines are using the same workgroup or
sharing will not be possible. Vista sets the workgroup to WORKGROUP unlike XP
which sets it to MSHOME. Makesure both machines have the same workgroup ID,
check in System Properties -> Computer Name, if you need to update one hit
the CHANGE button, a system reset will be required for the change to take
effect.

Workgroup is WORKGROUP. I don't have any problems with my PC or MAC's accessing the internet with the same wireless network.
The only other difference I see is that the middle icon is called EarthLink-secured and mine just has the wireless name -- NO secured.
Having made the changes -- sorry to say still getting server not found when I open a new Firefox window -- even while I am typing this -- so I clearly have Internet.
As far as I can see my firewall (McAfee) is configured correctly.
Another example if I go to firefox now and open a new window I get server not found, same with a tab on this window (I bet when I post this I will not be able to!) and yet Network & Sharing has me connected wireless = excellent!
This should not happen with a brand new computer!
but THANK YOU for the help.
