network lock up

Hi all, I have a belkin wireless router connected to a ntl cable modem, my parkard bell laptop (wireless) and desktop (wired) have worked fine for some 18 months now, recently my wife bought a dell inspiron 1300 with 1370 mini pci wireless card installed, when I try to connect it to the wireless network the router and modem lock up and all pc's lose the connection. if I dissable the dell wireless card I have no problems with connections. any ideas what I am doing wrong,,PLEASE,, sorry forgot to say that all machines are running XP Pro.

Try removing the wireless card through Device Manager, rebooting, then letting Windows reinstall the drivers for the wireless card.

Cheers Steve, tried that and succeeded in getting a far better signal strength but didn't solve the problem unfortunately. have now dissabled the wireless pci and connected it using cat 5 and all works fine but being a laptop wired is restrictive.
Many Thanks
Terry.

Are you using any kind of wireless security?  If so, you might want to try troubleshooting further and see if the same problem ocurrs with the security disabled.  You might also want to try updating the firmware on your router to see if that solves the problem.
