Network mapped drives disconnecting

I have a customer that bought 6 dell dimension 4600 pc's.I setup up a windows 2000 server as a domain controller that all of these connect to,plus there are a few older clone pc's also on this network. There is a linksys router doing nat and dhcp for the network. The problem is that 5 of the 6 Dell 4600's will drop their network connections after a period of time which I haven't been able to determine, but overnight every time for sure. The 6th 4600 works great as do all of the clone pc's.They are all running win xp sp1.I have tried everything I have found on this and so far no good,I even reinstalled windows using a standard windows disk. All of the bios dates are the same, the same network drivers,Am I missing something? Is there something in the hardware that could be different between the one and other 5?Believe me I think I have been through everything from security settings to network drivers, with no change....The pc's have to be rebooted to reconnect the drives.\

Does running ipconfig /release /renew get them connected again with a reboot?

No,when running ipconfig and release, and renew it has no effect, you have to reboot to get the drives back. One thing i noticed with these 4600's,was when I tried to install a different network adapter in two of them to rule out the adapter, the hardware was different in the two boxes, even though they were bought at the same time???Are there different versions of the same model, maybe the one that works is of a different hardware flavor than the one's that don't work???I am really out of ideas here.....

Are you using Standby or Hibernate modes on these computers?  If so, try disabling these modes and see if the problem goes away.  Also, check the advanced properties of the network cards and make sure that they are not set to turn off to conserve power.

Yes,believe me I have been everywhere....I turned off the hibernation, the power saving on the net card, the power saving on the pc,disabled the disconnect in the security settings.

I even set the link speed to manual 100 instead of the auto setting as i read somewhere to try.I really think I covered everything in the past few months.
