Network or Broadband - cannot connect to internet

Recently a number of computers were wired for broadband access to internet. I was away. I need help to operate new system (no engineer available).

There is a new cable attached to the Computer.

When I click on Network Connection Icon and then select Lan or High Speed Internet and click   'local area connection', the computer successfully connects at a speed of  100mbps. However when I click on Internet Explorer, I get message - page not found.  And when I click on Outlook Express I get the message 'unable to establish a connection'. (My old Outlook Express connection (dial up) is still available and works, of course). How do I put things write so that I can open Internet Explorere and get my email using the new faster connection.

In the   'Local Area Connection Properties Box' I read:

Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC

EAP Type : Smart Card or other Certificate

And in the 'Local Area Connection Status Box' I read connected at 100mbps.

Here is an update to my situation.

I reinstalled Windows XP and since then Internet Explorer runs (on the Local Area Network Connection using Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.) and I can access my email by logging on to the Service Provider Site.

However I still cannot access my e-mail using Outlook Express. When I attempt to send or receive e-mail I get the message

'The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address...Account: 'Oceanfree', Server: 'smtp.oceanfree.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 relaying to <support@esatfusion.ie> prohibited by administrator', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79.'

EamonX1,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You would need to contact your ISP to find out what the correct settings are for your system and e-mail server.

The email server you sent to does not allow relaying and treated your email as spam.
