Restart your computer, and start tapping the key. Start the computer in Safe Mode (NOT Safe Mode with Networking). Login to the system. Click Start -> Run and type in MSConfig. Press . Click the "Launch System Restore" and restore the system to a time immediately before you made these changes.
I thought that you had Windows XP. Since you have Windows 2000, you shoud attempt to boot to LKG (Last Known Good) from the Boot menu. You cannot do a system restore in Windows 2000.
Windows 2000 does not have "DOS". Formatting the hard drive can easily be done directly from the Windows XP CD to erase the drive. During the installation, you can simply do a quick format on the existing C: partition and install on that same partition.
