Have you tried unplugging the printer from the USB port on the desktop, going into the Printers folder and removing the printer, rebooting, reinstalling the printer software, then plugging in the printer, and making the printer a shared printer again.

yes I have...also I've uninstalled my zonealarm firewall and disabled the windows firewall as well

Do you have the latest drivers for that printer running on the computer that it accessing it over the network?

This is weird problem that I've never seen before.  All I can suggest is to try older/different drivers or post on the Printers forum:
