Have you tried unplugging the printer from the USB port on the desktop, going into the Printers folder and removing the printer, rebooting, reinstalling the printer software, then plugging in the printer, and making the printer a shared printer again.

This is weird problem that I've never seen before. All I can suggest is to try older/different drivers or post on the Printers forum:
