Network problems with my Dell 5100

Dear all,

I have recentlyt bought a Dell 5100 with a integrated INTEL PRO/100 VE Network Connection Lan Connection. When I connect this wone to the LAN, I am loosing about 25% of the packages send. (Pinging the router indefinitaly).

My Lan Configuration is:
- SMC Wireless Broadband Modem / Router, connecting to ADSL.
- 1 Switch with 2 computers connected.
- My Dell Diomension 5100.

When I connect my laptop to this device it is working perfectly.

When I force the integrated network facillity of intel to 10 Mbs Full Duplex instead of 100 Mbs Full Deplex (or automatic), it is working. When I install another network card in a PCI slot, it is not functioning. It is not even capable of getting an IP adress assigned form the router.

When I connect the integrated card with a crosslink cable to my Laptop it is functioning at 100 Mbs without any problems (after assigning fixed IP adress on both sides).

I am completely lost on what might be wrong, can anybody help?

Rg,

Leo

Tried a new cable too. When connecting the laptop it is running fine at 100 mbps. Just not with the Dimension.
