Network security message I do not understand

I have just purchased a Dell Inspiron 531 with Trend Micro PC cillin security system. A window keeps popping up that says "There are unknown computers connected to your network." There is a list of ten or twelve IP addresses. I don't know what this means. I didn't know I was connected to a network. The warning gives me two choices: "trust" or "do not trust." When I click on "do not trust" nothing happens. The warning window just keeps popping up. What does this mean and what should I do? Thanks.

Do you have a wireless or wired network?  If wireless, do you have encryption enabled?

You dont know if you are wired or wireless?

My guess is your wireless card is turned on and you are connected to an open network that is not yours.

Thanks for your prompt response. I have a wired network as far as I know, unless the new Dell computer has an activated wireless network that I am not aware of. Forgive my ignorance about wired/wireless networks.
