As far as networking goes, there should not be a problem running different versions of Windows on the network. As for security, if you decide to use a different security suite then be sure to disable or uninstall the one that you are not going to use.

should be ok....what is the security suite from your ISP? you can read some posts over in the Virus/Spyware forum about recommendations
you'll want a wireless router if you do not have one

The Laptop will run Road Runner's Security Suite and the main computer is running the Trend Micro.
I was under the impression that both the main computer and the laptop are considered separate entitites.
Then differant security would be no problem- or would it be. That is a question I would like to find out about.
