Networking Dimension 2400 series base units

I have the responsibility to install a golf score entry system at our country club.  I propose to use two 2400 series computers - each having the handicap software installed. One unit (the master) would be used by the golf pro to process member handicap information and reporting.  The second unit would only be available for members to enter scores.  The master must be able to retrieve the scores from the slave, however it is not necessary for the slave to retrieve info from the master.  What networking hardware and software is recommended.  How are the devises (adapter cards, switches, etc.) connected? Help!!

XP Home or Pro?  If it were me, I would create a shared folder on the "master" unit named Handicap and give access only to the club staff and and lock out all other logins.  I presume the software will create the interface for the golfers to record their scores into the database?  Right?

Come to think of it, probably only the Head Pro and Asst Pro should have access to the database.

If you have a need for internet access, go broadband and place both machines behind a router which would in turn network both machines after some fine tuning.  Below will be some articles that will get you started:

Thanks for the response JM.  We will be using XP and running a handicap program called ScoreKeeper V. 6.5.  This program provides a restricted mode for the club pro's access to the data base and a second mode for the members restricted to scores entry, handicap review Etc. Members cannot get at the data base.  I will review the suggested articles. Thanks again.

I figured as much with the program.  Just make sure you lock down the main machine with good passwords and only let the Pro & Asst have access other than the Administrator.
