networking dsl

I have a dimension 4600 and am trying to set up a network with a laptop.  I received everything including a NIC card Netopia 3d reach but can not see where to install this card.  The installation stops because they don't detect this card..  Can someone please help.  This card seems to be too big for the slots I have inside the computer.  Thanks

Is this Netopia 3d Reach card a PCMCIA card or is it a PCI card.  PCMCIA cards are for laptops, PCI cards are for desktops.  According to the following document from the Netopia web site, the 3d Reach card only comes in a PCMCIA version and a USB version:

Your desktop can't use the PCMCIA card, but, since you have USB ports, it could use the USB version.

Does the 4600 model have the half-height PCI card slots?  If so, you will be better to use a total USB setup.

Thanks for this info.  I am not real computer literate.  This card was sent to me via Bellsouth so I could network with my niece who is living with me post Katrina.  This card I suppose is a PCMIA card.  There is no place that will handle this in my computer it is too big.  I will contact Bellsouth.  Thank you very much!
