Networking PC, Desktop, Printer

I have a Dell DIM4550 and a Inspiron 1100 plus a Dell AIO 940 printer.  I want to network them together and also share my Internet connection (which is a ISP dial-up.  Can't get DSL, Cable or anything except satellite ((to cost prohibative right now)) out here in the "boonies")

I think I know how.  I just need to know what I need to do it with hardwired. No wireless, or phone line please. Any suggestions on type or brand would be appreciated. Most economical would be appreciated.

Make sure you have an ethernet card in both computers (the 4550 should have one built in, I don't know about the Inspiron).  Then connect the two ethernet cards together with a special network cable called a cross-over cable.  Enable Internet Connection Sharing on the computer that will make the dialup connection.  On the computer that is connected directly to the printer, designate the printer as a shared device, then install the printer as a network printer on the computer that connects to it through the network.  For more help, see the following:
